Bio-Interface/PSI-Tools Function

(PSI: Parallel and Serial Interference)

Taking into account, that the possibility to excite a neuron is as higher, as more closed some input impulses arrive, delays, wire lenghts and circuit geometries become strong influences on the logical function of a pulse-propagating circuit. The properties of known logic circuits are dismissed: logic function becomes a function of the location even as a function of type, weights and thresholds.

To investigate different geometries together with different time-functions, we designed this special software tool. The tool combines two elementary, incremental neural spaces together, each supposed to have a homogenous excitement speed. We call this spaces generator-field and detector-field. Waves propagate on the fields with selectable velocity.

Both spaces are coupled (for simplicity) via non-delaying channels. It is possible, to define individual delays for each channel wire. Time-functions flowing through channels can be loaded or stored as channel data stream files. Also it is possible, to load external channel data, for example comming from EEG-devices. The tool has an A/D- and D/A-converter port. Channel data can be taken from an 16 input-ADC (UEIDAC) with preamplifiers. Gain, pass band, test-signals and working modes of the preamplifiers are digital controlled and initialized per software. All values are restored while initialising the preamplifiers.

Each interesting point of both spaces is supposed to have straight, delaying connections to each electrode of the space. Wires and distances are supposed to have a length proportional delay (constant excitement speed is supposed). Channel delays had been introduced, but not used. Standard case was, to use the same coordinates for electrodes in generator and detector space without any channel delay. Using bitmaps as generator, one can define a time-function (pulse) for all black pixel. A refractory period (pause) defines the average pulse distance.

It is possible, to implement bitmaps with black and white pixels into the generator space. Black pixels have the task, to send on different conditions time-functions (impulses) into the space. White and coloured pixels remain still. Also it is possible, to use mathematical function generators instead of bitmaps.

The detector space lays virtually on the PC. We only consider the connectivity between a neuron on a defined location and the electrodes. It is possible, to calculate different neural combinatory functions, like addition, multiplication and different thresholds and threshold functions.

PSI-Flowchart. It is possible, to record channel data, or to synthesize them over the generator-field (bitmap). Find more details in the PSI-Help file (HLP).

PSI-Functions. Behind channel data recording it is possible to synthesize channel data streams.
